Daniel Frenkel

I write about the machinery of being a person.

Why you feel what you feel, do what you do, and repeat the pattern you understand completely. The short version of everything I work on: you are run, most of the day, by a prediction machine you didn't program — and the machine can be seen, caught, and slowly retrained.

I'm writing two books about this. Respected and Unwanted is about the rules men learn about what they may show, and what following those rules costs them and everyone in reach of them. Waking the Driver is about the automatic life — how the machine got programmed, why insight alone never rewires it, and what actually does.

The living writing happens on my newsletter. The books are where it all comes together.

I'm also training as a counselor. One day this page will say more about that.
